HORSE RIDING HOLIDAYS

The “PICCOLA RAIEDA” farm holiday estate is specialised in horseback tours lasting from two hours to several days and led by qualified FITETREC-ANTE teachers (Italian Federation of Equestrian Tourism).
The rides are planned on the basis of the riders’ level of expertise and take place inside the “Riserva Naturale del Contrafforte Pliocenico” (Natural Reserve of the Pliocene Spur), amid uncontaminated woods, rivers, streams, old farmhouses and breathtaking landscapes; encounters with wild animals, including different native species of deer and boars, are practically an everyday occurrence.
Treks are planned out over a several-day period, with distances of 15-20 km travelled per day and 4-6 hours in the saddle. They include a stop for a brown bag lunch and visits to sanctuaries, castles and regional parks.
Overnight lodging is arranged for equestrian guests in accommodations equipped with all amenities, where they will be served dinners prepared according to genuine Emilian tradition.
For less experienced riders, or those who wish to refresh their horse riding skills before undertaking an adventure, there is nothing better than the enjoyable lessons in the riding stable.
For all of these activities guests will always have at their disposal the horses owned by the estate, which are reliable, well looked after and suited to all levels of riding experience.

RIDING TREKS INCLUDE:
On Horseback in the Monte Sole Regional Park (2 days); Horseback trekking to Montovolo (3 days);
On Horseback on the High Appenins between Tuscany and Emilia: ancient christian and heathen places from the Via dei Santuari to Flaminia Minor (4 days).

During the treks overnight lodging will be provided in farmhouses or farm holiday estates, where breakfast and dinner will also be served; unless different arrangements are made, lunches will be “brown bag”.

 

 

MOUNTAIN BIKE HOLIDAYS

The “PICCOLA RAIEDA” farm holiday estate is situated in an ideal area for cycling tourism.
Over 100 km of “real” mountain bike trails, all clearly marked out, will let you explore the most suggestive corners of the “Riserva Naturale del Contrafforte Pliocenico” (Natural Reserve of the Pliocene Spur), the Monte Sole Regional Park and the mountain territory of the “Cinque Valli Bolognesi”.

ROCK CLIMBING

At Rocca Di Badolo, about 2 km away from the estate, lovers of rock climbing will find a challenging climbing wall with both fully equipped (metal cables) and free-climbing routes, frequented by climbers of varying ability.

 

LAKEFISHING

The grounds of the PICCOLA RAIEDA include a lake fed by spring water, where enthusiasts can fish for amur and carps in complete tranquillity; fishing rods are available at the estate for guests who do not have their own.

 

HIKES OF VARYING DIFFICULTY

The PICCOLA RAIEDA farm holiday estate is ideal for those who enjoy hiking or simply taking a walk: setting off directly from the estate you can explore the Grotta della Fate (“Cave of the Fairies”) or the second world war trenches of the “Gothic Line” on the southern ridge of the estate, the “Via degli Dei” (“Way of the Gods”), the “Flaminia militare” (Roman military road) and lots of other trails and tracks that will lead you to discover the most enchanting corners of the “Natural Reserve of the Pliocene Spur; maps of hiking trails are available at the estate.

 

PARTICIPATION IN SEASONAL FARMING ACTIVITIES

Would you ever have thought you could live according to the rhythm of nature, of animals and plants, engaging in activities by now forgotten in modern society?
Would you like to look after farm animals? Pick vegetables from the garden for dinner? Collect eggs from hens to prepare fresh pasta dough or a delectable serving of ham and eggs? Would you like to join us in gathering wild sparrow-grass, lavender at the beginning of July, cherries, blackberries and berries of dog-rose to do marmalade or picking chestnuts in October? At PICCOLA RAIEDA you can do these and lots of other things together with us!

At a distance of about 4 km from the PICCOLA RAIEDA farm holiday estate you will find a magnificent golf club, boasting a suggestive 18-hole course that extends over green hills and through dense thickets.
